Hope Day Confession – Growing closer to God.
Sharing this again because it’s worth it, you’re worth it and God is certainly worth it!
This verse found me, years ago, in the Dells at a Middle School youth retreat. At that very same retreat God spoke to me. Serious. He spoke to my heart, told me how loved I was by Him, how set apart I was. He showed me my new path right along side Him♥
Faithful Fridays are for confession, no worries it really is good for the soul! Truth everyday is for confession.
I use this Psalm in my prayers all the time. You may or may not know, I like the ACTS model to pray (it helps me stay balanced) A: Adore, C: Confess, T: Thank, S: Supplication or asking. This Psalm helps me confess, gets me in the right place; ready to repent.
Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
– Psalm 139:23-24 AMPC
Search me, O God, and know my heart;test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
– Psalm 139:23-24 NLT
Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—then guide me on the road to eternal life. – Psalm 139:23-24 The Message
When we look at a few translations we can get to the heart of the words.
Search me, examine me, look real hard at my heart, my life – This is big stuff. We are asking God to dig around. He already knows everything about us, but when we invite Him, we invite the opportunity to improve, to change, to be better followers of Him.
Try me, test me, cross examine me and know what goes on in my head – Again He already knows, this is us saying we want our thoughts to be worthy of Him. This is us saying He can do what He needs to with us, we want to be worthy with His help.
Point out anything that offends you – Yikes, talk about Trust.Seek.Pray. God will show us what offends Him. He will open our hearts and poke the ouchy places, the places we try to hide. The places that are questionable, where we tip toe around our will and His.
Lead me and guide me – There is no way we can do it on our own, all we have to do is look around at the parts and places in our lives where we have pushed our own will through, because we know best?!
Life on Purpose looks like hanging out with us here for Hope Day, Faithful Fridays and all the days in between. It looks like examining our hearts and God’s Word.
Happy Midweek Loves!
