You know when you get that feeling?  The one saying call so and so or slow down – literally or figuratively. The feeling of knowing.  The poke saying do this, be this, go this direction.
Guess what? In my humble opinion you are hearing from the Holy Spirit. Guess what else, you have always been hearing from Him. The question is are you listening? Are WE listening?
I’ve been studying this subject quite a bit lately.  Hearing from the Holy Spirit. Actually listening to Him.  Asking Him to guide me.  Recognizing His promptings, pokes, shoves.
Today I listened. As I scanned my newsfeed on Facebook this morning I saw this post from a friend:
30 yrs ago today my world changed forever. Though I broke my neck and couldn’t move I became a stronger person and learned so many things. Friends , love , and one of the best gifts of all , I gave birth to my beautiful daughter . Life is good.
WOW.
I was immediately struck – prompted by the Holy Spirit to share a verse from Joshua. This particular verse holds a place of crazy love in my heart. I always, always think of a very special young man, whom I adore, when I read it. In my mind this is his verse.
I had a feeling, a knowing it would be exactly what someone needed for the day.  It is such a comforting verse – Don’t sweat it – I got this and you. Love God.
Joshua 1:9 (AMP)
9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Funny thing is it really wasn’t for me; it wasn’t MY word for the day. I embrace it. I know it is the truth and I feel loved when I read it.But I needed something else.
I needed this:
Psalm 23:1 (AMP)
1 THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
Someone gave me a gift yesterday. A little lamb figure with the entire 23rd Psalm attached.
The first verse reached into my being & gripped me.  The Lord is MY shepherd. Shepherds always take care of their sheep.  They feed them, guide them & protect them. I shall not lack – be without.
I really, really needed to be reminded of this truth. I love knowing these truths go together perfectly – like chocolate and peanut butter – really good alone but when you put them together – perfection.  My hope, my prayer is both scriptures work their way into your heart and grow and grow and grow.
We have so much. Family, friends, fill in the blank – WE do not lack because our shepherd is God.  No matter our circumstances – life is good, God is the good shepherd.
Your 1,2,3 for the day.
