In my experience, when you are truly, truly trying to walk with God, he will immediately let you know when you have veered off his path.
Yesterday I had a lunch with a dear friend.  She & her family have been the “victims” of some really crappy stuff, some undeserved, unnecessary, crappy stuff!  Don’t  worry things are working out for the good – because they are trusting God!
Proverbs 16:3 (AMP)
3 Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.
Anyway as we talked and laughed & worked through some of the anger & loss I said things about the situation & some other folks involved – true things – things I would repeat again.  However I should have served a truth burrito, they are much easier to swallow.  It is still the truth, just wrapped in love – I forgot the love part.  I know it can be easy to forget that part when you are angry, frustrated and feeling like you are at the end of your rope.
Problem #1 – love is NOT a feeling.  I know this and yet I let myself get swept up in some not so nice feelings yesterday.
It did not take long after the lunch was over for me to have a “knowing” in my heart. God was telling me I had blown it.  I had not walked in love.  Even if I was telling the truth, it needed to be wrapped in love.  This, my friends, is conviction. I was convicted in my heart. Because God loves me, he gives me loving correction. Please DO NOT confuse this with condemnation. Condemnation is NOT from God.
God was poking me…it took me a little longer than normal to get the message.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (MSG)
5 Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
6 Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Problem #2  – If you ignore conviction, YOU can start to feel condemnation. This next thought might be out on a limb for some of you.  The Devil is the one who condemns.  He wants you to worry, stress, feel guilty, feel unworthy, etc.
Since God IS Love, he could not possibly want you to feel any of those things.
This morning I read a great quote: “Maintaining the right attitude is easier than regaining the right attitude.” –Joyce Meyer
That was one more poke; I needed to share the love burrito theory.
So what’s the 1,2,3?
1: Truth wrapped in love is easier to swallow – remember to serve it with a smile
2:  You may be the one being served – remember to take it with a smile
3: When you forget the love, God will remind you – remember to LISTEN!
Go wrap someone in LOVE!
