Transformation comes in a silent, snowy night.
Crispy calm air, the only sound is the snow falling onto the snow. The sky is dark and cloudy but the moonlight is shimmering off the freshly fallen flakes.
I am not a fan of winter, not a fan of being perpetually cold. But I smile, I cannot help myself.
I fall back into the deep snow and breathe. I am lost in the moment.
This isn't terrible.
Actually it is quite magnificent and cleansing. I thank God for the night, for the snow, for the wonder, for Him. My disdain for winter and all coldness suddenly not so heavy, my attitude in the process of being transformed. I see the snow in a whole new way. A beautiful white blanket, unblemished. Glistening. I make a snow angel and try to get up without disturbing her. My heart is light, the snow has washed my attitude anew, washed my soul anew. I am transformed to see with a more gracious eye, the amazing work of God found in winter. This is the closest I have come to physically feeling the perfect peace of Christ. I am overwhelmed.
When we live life on purpose, we continually transform. It comes in tiny snow covered steps and giant leaps. It comes in the least expected places, at the least expected times.
Brown slushy muck, the aftermath of the brilliant white snow has already arrived. Transformation means, even though I see the brown muck, I will remember that night, that glorious night when my soul was transformed in the silence and the snowfall. I will embrace winter for the beauty that lies beneath.
