Transformation starts in me, with me. I trust God to walk with me through it all.
Today I read the following and I had to share:
"Some people just refuse to be happy, so don’t let them steal your joy. You cannot FIX anyone and you shouldn’t take the blame for everything that goes wrong in someone else’s life.”
The above is from: Starting and Ending your day: Devotions for each day of the year by Joyce Meyer
Those two brief sentences are amazing, freeing, enlightening & complete no-brainers.
So why is it we cannot commit them to memory?
Why do we let folks steal our joy?
Here is what I think and what God says♥
*We don’t feel like we deserve it – we feel we are unworthy
(John 3:16 (MSG)
16 "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
* We haven’t learned that circumstances don’t dictate true joy
(Nehemiah 8:10b (AMP)
And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.
And in our infinite wisdom we think it is our job to fix people?? Especially when we have so many of our own issues!
*If I “fix” them I’ll be “better” thus ignoring my own junk
Matthew 7:5 (AMP)
5 You hypocrite, first get the beam of timber out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the tiny particle out of your brother's eye.
*Some people like to live in chaos/blame/turmoil – WHATEVER! Just be the best example you can be…
Philippians 4:7 (AMP)
7 And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
So what’s the 1,2,3?
1. For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. Philippians 4:8 (AMP)
2. Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you. Philippians 4:9 (AMP)
GO BE LOVE!
