Life is good. God is so good and yet we can find ourselves in that place...
I wanted to share an entry from my prayer journal.
Mostly I follow the ACTS (Adore, Confess, Thank, Supplicate or Ask) prayer model.
It keeps my prayer more balanced and less gimme, gimme. Truth be told my 'thanks' part is typically the heaviest.
Lest anyone forget, we are no surprise to God. He made us, he knows our hearts and our burdens.
"I confess: judgement, making fun, wanting to know the gossip, wanting doors to fly wide open, wanting others to do for me and help me. I want to sing perfectly. I want my body to look perfect. I want no more job issues. I want easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy."
Clearly I was in that place BUT God was not surprised or disappointed or even angry at my whining, gimme, gimme, lazy heart. Just the opposite - His arms were wide open inviting me into rest and release and peace. He already knew what I had done and felt and what was in my heart.
They say confession is good for the soul. I say confession is essential for me to move forward and do the work God has called me to. Thankfully, His mercies are new every morning. And so every day I confess and I repent and I receive mercy. Seriously.
At first it was difficult to share my true confession, but - I know, that I know, in this community there is love and trust and truth.
My confessions don't always look so...cry baby. But I always have something to confess, something to improve on from the day before. I am being built as a temple for God - moment by moment.
I can't leave you with just confession...humor me and read my adoration from another day. No poking fun at typos!
This is my heart, mostly - the cry baby stuff is just once in awhile.
Your Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy 1,2,3 and 4...
#1 God is good.
#2 You are no surprise, ever.
#3 Confession frees you to move forward.
#4 You are loved.
