28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
32a And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered and saved.
I’ve seen lots of folks on Facebook doing "30 days of Thankful" posts- I think this is great, I think you should be thankful....My hope is that when you start being thankful in November you remember to be thankful everyday...365 days a year.
I saw this quote recently, "What if all you had today was what you thanked God for yesterday?" WOW - this is so....WOW.
I would have things like coffee and hot water and my family and my health and music and...you get the picture. I practice being thankful every day. It takes practice, lots of practice. If you are thinking it can be difficult some days to be thankful, especially when it SEEMS like there is nothing worthy of thankfulness – take heart there is always something worthy of thankfulness!
So if all you had today was what you said "thanks" for yesterday, what would you have? This is a gentle reminder that so many things are precious....
“Great minds talk about ideas, average minds talk about events, and small minds talk about people.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
So where do you fall in this great quote? On occasion - I fit all three - you don’t? Come on!
I don't believe Mrs. Roosevelt meant you were small minded if you shared great news about your kid, spouse, neighbor, or colleagues....I think she was probably leaning more towards speaking unkind, unflattering, dare I say untrue things about someone.
What about "Events"...well if we are spending all day talking about the latest hijinks/lawlessness of Snookie - that would be average...maybe below average (sorry Snookie).
Events are good as long as that’s not all you have in your repertoire. (This would be a poke at my husband always harping on current politics. I want to discuss these things just not every waking moment) BTW – Telling folks that local law enforcement officials were at your neighbors is not really the kind of event I mean – technically it’s gossip (my definition anyway – it may very well be true but, if you are saying it to be mean, hurtful or to look superior, SKIP IT)
So let’s get to the “great” part…ideas. Hmmm. I really like this one. I have an idea. I’m going to write a blog. I will write things that make people think, things that challenge them. Things that will inspire them to make a difference…I’m going to practice random acts of kindness – there’s a sweet idea. I’m going to leave everything/place a little nicer than I found it....I’m going to manage my feelings instead of my feelings managing me….I’m going to be love….
