Faithful Fridays are about diggin' a little deeper into the word...
Today we'll look at Ephesians 3:16-19. I've included three amazing translations.
"The book of Ephesians is a Prison Epistle (letter written while in prison). Paul wrote it about 60-62 A.D. The key personalities of Ephesians are the Apostle Paul and Tychicus. It was written to encourage believers to walk as fruitful followers of Christ and to serve in unity and love in the midst of persecution." From BibleHub
So Paul is doing his thing, encouraging others, while in prison. Go Paul.♥
16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. - Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT
14-19 My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. - Ephesians 3:14-19 Message
16 May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].17 May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,18 That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];19 [That you may really come] to know [practically, [a]through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses [b]mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] [c]unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and [d]become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]! - Ephesians 3:16-19 AMPC
Verse 16: Strength, inner, glorious strength through Christ. For you!
Verse 17a: Ummm, people. This is so huge. Jesus copping a squat in your heart. Real talk.
Verse 17b: Rooted deep, no doubting His love is for you, making you strong.
Verse 18:The extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Understanding how wide, how deep, how long, how high this love is.
Verse 19: You will really know, in your heart, in your gut, know the love of Christ. And you will be filled with it, even if you can't really wrap your brain around it. And your life will be complete.
Friends these words, they overwhelm me to the point of joy-filled tears. They remind me my purpose is to live a life of worship in response to this love.
Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. This is Life on Purpose.
