Walking is for turtles. SLOW is hardly ever my speed, ever. Please, if you are a turtle don't be offended. Turtles are lovely and you know, you be you.
I'm gonna be me and I'm speedy, mostly. I was recently diagnosed with sciatica - inflammation of the sciatic nerve and it is reeking havoc on my fitness routine and my fashion choices.
Forget about the pain, I need to exercise, no - I need to run. Yes I said need. It is very important to me. So, I run, alone, with my bestie family, I run.
The chiropractor said to walk for now but no running. No running? That's like no coffee, no music, no sunshine, no chocolate. Did I cover all the bases, are you feelin' me? No, then fill in the blank - You can't do/have ________ for a while...
Okay,okay, no running for now. Let's go to plan B.
Several nights ago I went for my first walk. That sounds crazy, I walk, have since I was 10 months (I should double check this with my mother). I walk to the car and across parking lots and... But walking on purpose and trying to not run or jog and sheesh I felt like a fish outta water, all awkward and fumbley. Thankfully only a few cars passed me, I can't image what they thought I was attempting to do. Truth, I was counting the moments until I get the all-clear.
My fashion is suffering as well. High heels are banned until further notice. Ugh.
Side note - I recently prayed this: Dear God if I have to give up something because of this injury please don't let it be heels and running. I'll give up heels if I can still run. Amen - We are real here and I really mean this. God knows anyway, so I said it out loud.
