Are you needing forgiveness today for a conversation turned gossipy yesterday?
#1 just ask
#2 it's yours
Ugh - it happens so quickly, you're just catching up, sharing the latest news and then before you know it, you're gossiping.
Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.- Psalm 141:3 NIV
No judgement here - this was me just the other day.
When I realized my conversation was taking a turn for the worst, I tried to back-peddle. It did not and does not work.
Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.
Proverbs 21:23 NLT
I tried to change the subject - not very effective and by that time the damage was done.
What damage? Aside from the obvious, my heart was breaking because I was choosing not to honor God with my words.
We all know about trying to dress up gossip with concern, it happens. I hate it.
I've already asked for forgiveness, I know I'm forgiven.
God still loves me, still holds me close.
I am, just as you are, a work in progress. Today that feels more like an excuse than the truth...
But here we are. Here's the plan.
I'm giving this and all my flaws and shortcomings to God. Asking Him to work all things together for good and be my strength where I am weak.
I can do all things through Christ. Including not obsessing aka feeling guilty about this.
Guilt is not from God.
You know what is?
Love and Mercy.
So what's your short not sweet but real 1,2,3?
#1 Gossip is ugly and you are not
#2 Speak life, honor yourself and God with your words
#3 see 1 & repeat #2 constantly
